Across the water
Before, during and after your crossing
Red Funnel's car ferry from Southampton comes in at East Cowes. If you're the executor, or the relative who lives nearest, this is the plan that works.
- 1
Before you sail
Send photos of each room, or walk us round on a video call. Lofts, sheds and garages are easy to forget.
- 2
While you are here
With the car on the ferry, take photographs, papers, small furniture and keepsakes. Label what stays with the house.
- 3
Once you are home
We collect the keys from whoever holds them, clear the house and hand them back.
Old streets, new flats
What an East Cowes clearance looks like
East Cowes grew from 7,314 people in 2011 to 8,428 in 2021, faster than any other main Island town, so homes here range widely.
An older house
Decades of storage in the loft and the garage. Tell us about both and they come out on the same visit.
A newer flat
Victoria Walk and other recent builds. Tell us the floor, whether there's a lift, and the managing agent's rules.
A day between sailings
If the house can be cleared in your window, we work to your ferry times. If not, take what you want and leave the rest.
Handy for the port
Local reuse, no chain ferry needed
Mountbatten, 25 Ferry Road
Just outside the ferry port. Drop bags of clothes and books on your way to the boat.
Bigger furniture
Mountbatten can arrange collection through its Newport warehouse, as long as fabric pieces have fire labels.
Straight to Newport by road
Lynnbottom is about 5.8 miles away and the route never uses the Floating Bridge.
Crossing soon?
Send photos of each room and have a fixed price before you book the ferry.

FAQ
East Cowes clearance questions
Short answers. If yours is not here, call or send it with your quote.
I'm over on the ferry for one day. Can you clear the house while I'm here?
Yes, if we know your sailing times in advance and the house is a size we can clear in that window. For a bigger house, take what you want and leave the rest to us.
Can you finish after I've gone back to the mainland?
Yes. We arrange the keys with you, a neighbour or the solicitor, clear the house, return the keys and can send photos of the empty rooms.
Should we tell the managing agent?
It is worth it. Some blocks set times when lifts and communal areas can be used for moves. Pass the rules on and we work within them.
Do you need the Floating Bridge to reach East Cowes?
No, we come by road from Newport. It only matters if part of the job is going across to Cowes.
Is the council's bulky collection an option?
For a few items, perhaps. East Cowes is on the Wednesday round, £62 for up to four items as of October 2026, collected from outside the property only.
