Council, charity or us?
For a few pieces you can carry outside, the council is often cheaper. Here's the honest picture.

FAQ
Furniture removal questions
Short answers. If yours is not here, call or send it with your quote.
Can you take just one sofa?
Yes. Single items are fine. If anything else needs to go, add it to the same visit, as it usually works out better value than booking separately.
Why does sofa disposal cost more than other furniture?
Sofas and armchairs may contain POPs and must be incinerated, not landfilled. The council's commercial waste centre lists POPs waste at £450 a tonne against £200 for general waste (October 2026).
Will a charity take my sofa?
Only if it's in good condition and still has its fire safety label. Without one it can't be resold.
Do I need to bring it downstairs?
No. We collect from any room, including upstairs flats with no lift. Nothing needs to be at the kerb.
Can you take a wardrobe apart to get it out?
Yes. We dismantle wardrobes, beds and anything else that won't fit through the door or round the stairs.
How do I know my sofa won't be dumped?
We're a licensed waste carrier, and you can check us on the Environment Agency register. If a collector fly-tips your furniture, the council can fine you up to £600.
