What Afton Marsh turns away

We take what the local tip won't

Afton Marsh accepts no rubble, plasterboard, inert waste or tyres. Those go to Lynnbottom only.

  • Rubble and hardcore

From a patio, a wall or a bathroom refit.

  • Plasterboard

Offcuts and old sheets, kept apart from general waste.

  • Old tyres

Car and bike tyres, not agricultural.

  • Mixed DIY waste

Since 14 September 2026, the tip charges for DIY waste over two 50-litre sacks a visit.

FAQ

Freshwater rubbish removal questions

Short answers. If yours is not here, call or send it with your quote.

Afton Marsh is shut on weekdays. Can you collect midweek?

Yes. Our collections aren't tied to the tip's opening days, and we take the load to the right licensed facility ourselves.

Can you take rubble and plasterboard?

Yes. Neither can go to Afton Marsh, so we take them by the right route. Tell us roughly how many bags or sheets there are.

There's an old asbestos garage roof. Can you take it?

Not as part of a normal collection. Ask us first and we'll tell you what's involved or point you to a licensed specialist.

My mother is moving into care. Can you clear her room by room?

Yes. We can clear part of a house at a time and set aside anything the family wants to keep.

Which day is the council's bulky collection here?

Friday, shared with Totland and Yarmouth, priced at £62 for a maximum of four items (October 2026). It won't come into the house or take wood, doors or kitchen units.
