Commercial waste on the Island is charged by the tonne and by type. Separating it is where the saving is.
Racking and steel shelving

Pallets and crates
Usable ones set aside for reuse. Broken ones go with the timber.
Scrap, offcuts and fixings
Metal and timber offcuts, old benches, jigs and storage units.
Card and shrink wrap
The packaging mountain from deliveries, kept apart from general waste.
Drained, non-fixed machinery
Once disconnected by a competent person and drained of oil and fuel.
A transfer note per load
Describing the waste and who took it, for your duty of care.

- 02VolumeMeasured in van loads, from a stockroom of pallets to a whole unit.
- 03DismantlingRacking, mezzanine shelving and benches that have to come apart.
- 04AccessRoller-door access is quick. Upper floors, narrow doors or a long carry take longer.

Your options
Bin, your own van, or a clearance
For the same bags every week, a trade bin wins. For a unit's worth of racking and pallets, it doesn't.

Hazardous waste we don't carry
- Oils, fuels and lubricants
- Liquid solvents, paints and resins
- Chemical drums
- Batteries in bulk
- Gas cylinders
- Marine flares
- Asbestos
- Fluorescent tubes
These need a carrier registered for hazardous waste and a consignment note. Have them collected separately and we'll clear everything else. Expired flares are explosives: ask your chandler or the coastguard.

FAQ
Industrial waste questions
Short answers. If yours is not here, call or send it with your quote.
Do you take hazardous waste?
No. Oils, solvents, chemicals, batteries in bulk, gas cylinders and asbestos need a carrier registered for hazardous waste and a consignment note. Have those collected separately and we'll clear the rest.
Can you take old machinery?
Non-fixed machinery that two people can safely handle, yes, once disconnected by a competent person and drained of oil and fuel. Large fixed plant that needs lifting gear is outside what we do.
Do you dismantle pallet racking?
Yes. Racking and steel shelving is taken apart on site and goes for metal recycling, which also keeps the disposal cost down.
What happens to wooden pallets?
Pallets in usable condition are set aside for reuse. Broken ones go with the timber waste, kept apart from general waste.
Can you collect from a boatyard?
Yes, for non-hazardous waste such as timber, metal, old fittings, rope, canvas and packaging. Antifouling waste, resins, oils, batteries and flares need a specialist.
Will I get a waste transfer note?
Yes, for every collection. It describes the waste and who took it. Keep it for at least two years.
